Whatā€™s in it for you?

Yoodli AI is an AI-powered speech coach that provides real-time and post-call feedback to improve communication skills or exactly as Yoodli AIā€™s LinkedIn page says it - ā€œthink Grammarly but for speechā€!

Yoodli AI played a stroke of genius by associating itself with Grammarly to create a link in the userā€™s mind and break into a new segment, thereby leveraging Familiarity Bias.

Familiarity bias is a cognitive bias, where people tend to prefer options that are familiar to them.

In product design, this means users are more likely to choose products or features that resemble what they've used before.

Yoodli has quite an interesting mixed bag of features, the main one being an AI speech coach.

There is a nifty checklist to help you onboard to Yoodli

There are two interesting ways to access it:

  1. Practice: There are 4 modes in Practice

    • Roleplay: It is a beautifully designed feature, which has pre-set scenarios and also allows you to customize your own scenario. The model behind is super accurate and picks up & continues the conversation, effectively mimicking as close to a real person as possible.

Select any scenario or create one; go ahead and practice that salary raise

Detailed feedback for every section of the conversation; also framework like GROW for improvement

    • Presentation: This would be the most used & useful scenario for most of us. You can record your piece. Not only do you get detailed feedback - both as a crisp summary and also as highlights of specific sections in your delivery. Also, if you donā€™t have a specific pitch but just want to improve your confidence and get over that stage fright, Yoodli has you there as well and provides little quips of inspiration for you to talk about and practice! Nifty! AI generates follow-up questions about your pitch, helping you be fully prepared.

    • Interview: Blew our minds away again! In this one, you can select your role, company, and tone for the interviewer. There are, of course, questions generated based on the information you provided and you can also add questions.

Select the company, role, tone and prepare to be quizzed by your AI interviewer

    • Upload: This is pretty much the same as the ā€œPresentationā€ mode, except that here you can upload any video of your choice rather than record it live. Recently, the CEO of Yoodli took to LinkedIn, sharing how Yoodli could analyze the speech delivered by US Vice President Kamala Harris at her first rally - and it was spot on!

  2. Yoodli for Meeting: Post-meeting analysis provides insights into your performance, while team mode allows for collaborative feedback. Designed with privacy in mind, Yoodli integrates seamlessly with popular meeting platforms Zoom, Google Meet, and Microsoft Teams to enhance your overall meeting experience.

Now for fun, if you thought Yoodli only delivers the AI speaking coach, you are so wrong. Yoodli certainly believes that ā€œAll work & no play makes Jack dullā€. There is a feature called ā€œExercisesā€, and they are exercises to make you the next Steve Jobs on stage. These exercises force you to think on your feet without fumbling while speaking, and did we say these are quite addictive (in a fun way šŸ˜‹)?

Even the names are quite fun of the Exercises

Thatā€™s not all! Yoodli is your actual personalized AI coach, you can select up to 4 Focus areas you want to work on and Yoodli keeps a tab on those!

Choose any 4 to help you get over your stage fright!

Whatā€™s the intrigue?

Varun Puri (Yoodliā€™s CEO & co-founder) recently delivered a talk at Microsoft, which both Spark & Trouble were very lucky to be able to attend. He said his vision for Yoodli, is that it becomes your personal AI speech coach not just when you record yourself but anywhere and everywhere you are, always with you whispering into your ear.

While the technical challenges of real-time, context-aware speech analysis are immense, the potential impact is equally profound. Yoodli could become more than a tool; it could be a life coach, helping users build confidence, improve relationships, and advance their careers. This vision positions Yoodli as a pioneer in the burgeoning field of AI-driven personal development, potentially disrupting traditional coaching and therapy models.

However, such a pervasive AI assistant raises important questions about privacy, consent, and the potential for overreliance on technology. Yoodli would need to carefully navigate these ethical considerations to maintain user trust.

As Yoodli continues to evolve, it could become an indispensable companion, empowering individuals to unlock their full communication potential.

You Asked šŸ™‹ā€ā™€ļø, We Answered āœ”ļø

Question: In the previous edition, you covered wearable AI devices. What do you think are the potential trade-offs between data privacy and the development of highly personalized AI experiences through wearable devices, and how do you envision a balanced approach to address these competing interests?

Answer: The gap between data privacy and personalized AI experiences through wearable devices is always a critical challenge. While an abundance of personal data is essential for training AI models to deliver highly tailored services (e.g., Fitbit's personalized workout recommendations based on heart rate and sleep patterns), it also poses significant privacy risks, such as unauthorized data breaches or misuse.

A balanced approach requires a delicate equilibrium. Users must have granular control over their data, including the ability to opt in or out of data sharing for specific features (as seen in Apple's Health app). Additionally, robust data anonymization and encryption techniques (like those employed by Google Fit) can protect sensitive information. AI developers should prioritize privacy-preserving machine learning techniques and avoid unnecessary data collection. For instance, instead of collecting raw biometric data, models can be trained on aggregated and anonymized data patterns (a practice used by many fitness trackers). Ultimately, fostering trust through transparent data practices and clear communication about data usage, as demonstrated by companies like Garmin, is essential.

Well, thatā€™s a wrap!
